Liquid Stone
Drawing a central design from small intensely created elements, Liquid Stone is a perfection of Gesamtkunstwerk.
The use of raw glass batch in the design links it with forces of time and historical reference. The bubble shrouded glass takes on an appearance of stone likening itself to qualities akin to these materials. In an effort to enhance this graphite has been used as surrogate to the glass process.
In form, technology and appearance these works reference the Modernist pre-cursors of Art Deco - the Wiener Werksätte. A production co-operative founded on the aims to produce objects embodying good design, excellent craftsmanship and high quality materials. The Wiener Werkstätte's commitment to Gesamtkunstwerk, elevation of craft processes and use of industrial applications have ann been fostered within this work.
